In Sudoku, your goal is to fill in every single row and column with the numbers 1-9. The numbers cannot repeat inside of any given column, row, or region. Also, even on the hardest of puzzles, you shouldn't ever be guessing. Though the strategies get progressively more complex as you progress.

The simplest thing you can do is to scan the regions, rows, and columns to see if there are any cases where there are eight numbers already filled in. This leaves precisely one choice for that ninth box. However, you will seldom start a puzzle out this way, but it's a good idea to keep this strategy in mind as you play.
